Yongwei GAO 高永伟

Prof. Yongwei Gao’s (高永伟) research interests lie in bilingual lexicography, history of dictionary-making, lexicology, terminology, and translation. As one of the most prominent bilingual lexicographers in China, Prof. Gao has so far compiled over a dozen dictionaries that focus on certain categories of the English vocabulary, such as An English-Chinese Dictionary of Idioms in Current Use (2014), New Age English-Chinese Dictionary of Neologisms (2018), A 21st Century English-Chinese Dictionary of Neologisms (2021), An English-Chinese Dictionary of Contemporary English Foreignisms (2021), A Dictionary of Acronyms and Initialisms in Contemporary English (2022), An English-Chinese Dictionary of Blend Words (2023), A New Dictionary of English Neologisms (2023), and A Dictionary of Contemporary English Neologisms and Trendy Words (2024). Besides, he has published four books on topics such as the history of Chinese-English and English-Chinese lexicography and English word-formation. Moreover, Prof. Gao has published more than 60 academic papers in Chinese and English journals.
Prof. Gao is also affiliated with many academic associations like ChinaLex (executive board member), BiLex (executive board member), ShanghaiLex (vice-president), and Shanghai Association for Foreign Language and Literature (vice-president). He also serves as associate editor of International Journal of Lexicography, and is a member of the editorial team for Lexicography and Lexikos respectively.

Miloš Jakubíček
(CEO of Sketch Engine)

He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lexical Computing, a research company working in the area of language technologies, primarily at the intersection of corpus and computational linguistics and computer lexicography. By profession, he is an NLP researcher and software engineer. His research interests are devoted mainly to two fields: effective processing of very large text corpora and the parsing of morphologically rich languages. Since 2008, Miloš has been involved in the development of Lexical Computing’s flagship product, the Sketch Engine corpus management suite. Since 2011, he has been Director of the Czech branch of Lexical Computing leading the local development team of Sketch Engine and he became CEO of Lexical Computing in 2014. Miloš is also a fellow of the NLP Centre at Masaryk University, where his interests lie mainly in morphosyntactic analysis and its practical applications.

Alain POLGUÈRE

Alain Polguère is Professor in linguistics at the University of Lorraine (Nancy, France) and member of the ATILF CNRS laboratory. In the 1980s, he carried out his doctoral research at the University of Montreal, while working in the field of Natural Language Processing (automatic text generation). He then began an academic career: National University of Singapore (1991–1995), University of Montreal (1995–2010) and University of Lorraine (2009–). His main research areas are theoretical and descriptive lexicology, lexicography of large lexical networks, semantics-syntax interface and vocabulary teaching. He is an honorary senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) and an associate member of the OLST research group at the University of Montreal, which he co-founded with Igor Mel’čuk in 1997.
